It is with great family pride that we introduce to you a superior variety of finger cakes that will leave you delighted and satisfied any time of the day!
Mandel bread (Mandelbrot), which literally means almond bread, is a look alike to its cousin the Italian Biscotti, but that's where it ends!
Making Mandel bread has been a Jewish family tradition dating back to the late 1700's, where our Prussian ancestors originated. Elaine was a daughter of this generation. They voyaged to this country and landed on Ellis Island, void of many material possessions, but rich with a pocket full of traditions. Elaine learned, as a young girl, the art of making this bread with the power of a "mixing spoon" and bowl. It went from the oven to the table after a quick bake and lasted for weeks without refrigeration. This turned a wonderful family tradition into a valuable commodity.
What can be more valuable than family tradition? It awakens our memories and brings us back to that special moment in time, where for just a while we can relive it.
Elaine'z kitchen is where it all began. My brother and I spent endless hours watching our mother prepare this wonderful treat she called "bread". We couldn't imagine why, since her Mandel had the texture of a cake and light crunch of a cookie all rolled in to one! She taught us how to make her variation of this "old style" Eastern European Jewish cookie, combined with a single bake process that makes her original recipe quite unique.
Elaine was the master of her kitchen and all who entered knew it! She poured endless love into the batter, but it was her extreme attention to detail, and endless pursuit of perfection, along with the true consistency of her nature that made up her main ingredients.
We know Elaine'z Gourmet Mandel Bread will find its way into the heart of your home and quickly become a family favorite.
"What grows in our hearts, belongs to us forever."
Sweet Regards,
Paula
